It’s almost the New Year and with it comes the best of the bowl season. Monday will be the day Michigan State finally squares off against Georgia. All week I have been posting in-depth previews of the Spartans coming into the game, and this time, I worked together with Bernie from Bernie’s Dawg Blawg again. […]

Spartans introduce the Hoosiers to the Keith Appling show

The stage was set and the show began. Brandon Wood poured in 11 points in the game’s first 12 minutes. The Indiana youth giant Cody Zeller proved moot and entirely obsolete. Derrick Nix, Draymond Green and Branden Dawson co-starred in the opening act, leaving the audience enraptured by the performances. The Spartans blocked, stole and scored […]

Arnett’s father has been ill and his condition has worsened, prompting DeAnthony to transfer back to Michigan according to tigerdroppings.com. Tennessee is expected to grant his release. He almost […]

Big Ten, Pac-12 form partnership

As the Big East expands its conference members nationwide, the Big Ten has made a move to give itself a bigger national image. Starting in the 2017 football season, the Big Ten and the Pac-12 will form a partnership to play an interconference slate, pairing each Big Ten team with a Pac-12 team. Basketball matchups […]

Outback Bowl: Michigan State on defense

“60 minutes of unnecessary roughness.” — Pat Narduzzi after Michigan State dismantled Michigan with physical, smash-mouth defense. The Spartans defense is really, really good. And really, really physical. Its physicality will have to be at a high level against Georgia if it wants to do its part in winning the Outback Bowl. Narduzzi, the king […]

Outback Bowl: Ask Bernie

Bernie is back. A couple weeks ago, I posted a segment with Bernie’s Dawg Blawg — a Georgia blog site — in which he answered my questions about the Bulldogs. Well, Bernie and I realized something … we had our questions, but you have yours, too! So this is your chance to ask Bernie any […]

Happy Holidays from The Little Brother Blog

In the spirit of the holidays, here is a little “Twas the Night Before Christmas” remix … “Twas the Night Before Big Ten Play” featuring Draymond Green on the Spartans Sports Network radio show. Also, from Spartans All-Access, a video of Kirk Cousins mic’d up during practice last week. It’s a good laugh and a […]

Spartans roll with the punches against Lehigh

Turns out the Spartans still are a bit green, as would be expected at this early point of the season. (Also, it turns out Lehigh is really good … don’t forget that name when you fill out your NCAA Tournament brackets in March.) Lehigh punched back over and over, mostly behind big shots from Holden […]

Michigan State Plays of the Year (Part 2)

The 2011 season was filled with more amazing plays than I can even recount — not only for the highlight level of the play itself, but the moments and significance. Combining the factors of significance and highlight worthiness, I put together a two-part series on the top ten plays. In case you missed it, here […]

Prepping for the Outback: MSU bowl practice notes

Here is some of the latest on the Spartans and their preparations heading into the Outback Bowl: 1. Andrew Maxwell will play and get good reps. Important: Yes. Exciting: Yes. Personally, I am really ready to see Maxwell more. I love Kirk Cousins and the player and leader he is and has been, but Maxwell’s […]

And in recent news: The NCAA is a joke

The NCAA announced its punishment for Ohio State today. And, let’s just put it this way: Every school might as well start cheating and doing whatever it wants. The sanctions for the school break down like this: – A one-year bowl ban – Loss of four more scholarships over next three years (nine total, including […]
